TELEPHONE TOWN HALL APRIL 24

Is your personal phone number up-to-date with your union? Expect a call from your union president!
On April 16, Albertans elected a United Conservative Party government. The UCPmade a number of promises throughout the provincial election campaign that could have an impact on the work you do. So, AUPE is looking to its membership to tell us what your immediate concerns are, and what direction you want your union to take.
AUPE invites all members working in health care, education, provincial government services, and boards, agencies and municipal governments to join AUPE President Guy Smith and AUPE Executive Director Carl Soderstrom for live and interactive telephone town halls, to tell us what you want to do next.
Telephone town halls will run from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for each sector on the below dates:
April 23 – Private health care
April 24 – Provincial government services
April 25 – Public health care
April 30 – Boards, agencies and municipal governments
May 2 – Education
Members we have phone number for will receive a call from AUPE President Smith the day before your sector’s telephone town hall as a reminder to participate, then a phone call at 6:30 p.m. that day to connect you to the telephone town hall.
Can’t take part? You can still send your feedback by email: info@aupe.org
We look forward to speaking with you.

BARGAINING UPDATE

Negotiations with the Government of Alberta on the wage re-opener failed to deliver a settlement by April 1, 2019. As a result of the Parties inability to reach a negotiated wage settlement we are exercising our right to seek binding arbitration to resolve the matter. The Union and Employer counsel's are working on establishing an arbitrator and are seeking dates to commence arbitration as quickly as possible. Once dates are formalized we will let you know.
