Seasons Greetings

Season’s Greetings

To all of you

Don’t save visits or calls for this time of year, don’t send cards/letters just at this time of year, I am sure someone wants to hear or see you anytime of the year.

Remember your gift is your presence!

Some Holiday Humor

-

Shortly before Christmas, a business man was anxious to get home. The business trip had been grueling and he was not in a particularly good mood. The airport loudspeakers blared Christmas carols he was sick of hearing. He thought their decorations were tacky. The worst decoration, he thought, was the plastic mistletoe hung over the luggage scale.
Being in a grumpy mood, he said to the woman at the counter, "You know, even if I weren't married, I wouldn't kiss you."
"That's not what it's there for," said the attendant. "It's so you can kiss your luggage goodbye."

Mum, can I please have a cat for Christmas?
No. You'll have turkey the same us the rest of us.

Christmas is just plain weird. What other time of the year do you sit in front of a dead tree in your living room eating candy and snacks out of your socks?

When you consider Christmas, there are four stages in your life:-
1) You believe in Santa
2) You don't believe in Santa
3) You are Santa
4) You look like Santa

Just doing my part.

I took the line 2 boxes of coffee and 2 of hot chocolate on behalf of local 009. They really appreciated it. They were feeling the cold but their spirits were high. I loved seeing Elizabeth. We recognized each other right away. I think all the hugging was probably to keep warm. Lol

A small gesture to make a huge difference!

Monterey.....
Do you know about this, if you don't take the time and read aupe.org web site and see these members have been locked out of their work site for a very long time.  Recognizing their long and unsure future, at convention Provincial Executive put a motion through 'adpot a member', this motion was passed at convention and therefore making a strong commitment to these members that we are here to support them till the end.  Local 009 adopted Elizabeth Lado . Darrol Mason and myself went down on Dec 7/12 (in Calgary at Monterey work site) and met her and gave her a gift card to Wal-Mart (basket of various donated items)to help support their family at this time of year.  Elizabeth was very grateful for this gift and this was a total surprise to her...Also this gave us the opportunity to stand on the line with these folks, the least we could do for the difficult journey they have had.  I encourage all of you to take some time out and go to this work site and help our Sisters and Brothers, all information is on AUPE.org website.
Remember its not always about the gifts its about the presence...

Seasons greetings!

Greetings Folks
Now some fun stuff, on Dec 5/12, Chapter 005 (Red Deer -Michener Services) held our joint Staff Christmas Meal.  It was catered and we had over 200 attend.  What a great event to have all join together and have such a good time.  During this event Darrol Mason and myself had a 50/50 draw and raised over 898.00, 1/2 of this was then donated to the Salvation Army in Red Deer, so on Dec 7/12, we went and delivered this donation to them and they were extremely grateful.
Prior to the meal, Chapter 005 elves went out in the morning and delivered over 45 bags (to each of the homes) with goodies, lights and letter openers to Local 009 members and others we work together with. Again a great time to engage with Local 009 members and spread Christmas Cheer.
Keep coming back there will be updates from other chapters

Winter greetings!

Hi Folks
What a busy time of year, I just wanted to add and let you know some other things that have happened with Local 009.
Prior to convention Local 009 submitted our sisters name Chris Dixon to the Membership Committee her name for Life membership with AUPE.  Chris was an avid Local 009 member and was on her Chapter council and Local council, started working with AUPE organization over the past couple of years and then applied and received a position with AUPE.  She still resides in Edmonton and works with many Locals and also supports organizing drives as well.  We do greatly miss her but know her passion and talents are an assets to AUPE.  So once again congratulations to Chris on her Life membership with AUPE!
