Provincial government members encouraged to complete online bargaining survey

EDMONTON – AUPE General Service members employed with the provincial government should take the opportunity to complete an online bargaining survey that will help its bargaining committee develop proposals for upcoming negotiations in 2010.

The General Service Bargaining Committee bargains on behalf of all direct employees of the Provincial Government represented by AUPE. These employees are represented by Locals 001 through 012.

“We are entering into a critical round of bargaining with the provincial government, and therefore it’s vitally important that we have the input of our members into this process,” said AUPE President Guy Smith.

The collective agreement for more than 22,000 provincial government members formally expires on Aug. 31, 2010.

“We would like all of our provincial government members to complete the survey by Sunday, May 23 at midnight,” said AUPE Staff Negotiator Jim Petrie, who will lead the General Service Bargaining Committee during the forthcoming round of negotiations.
