Home from Convention

Hi Everyone:
Hope you were all able to follow the convention via Internet or by checking in our Blog.  As you can see we have a new President Guy Smith, but still from the General Services Sector, we now 6 Vice Presidents, and Bill Dechant won as Secretary Treasurer.  Congratulations to all of those who were successful and to those who let their names stand.
There were a few challenges this convention due to the renovations to the Delta but we all handled it quite well.
So next year convention will be held Oct 13-16/10 at the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton, so please if you are interested please attend your Chapter AGM coming up in the Spring and put your name forward for Convention.  If your aren't successful there are many other ways you can make it to convention, and that is by requesting to the President (AFTER AGM season) your interest on being on one of the convention committees.

Also a reminder that Labour School applications need to me within the next couple of days, and
there is a Human Rights Seminar in Edmonton Dec 9-10/09 if you are interested in any of the education opportunities please go to aupe.org and on the right of the web page are the links to print off applications and information, please read all of the instructions as there are signatures required before sending into HQ.

This is the time now after convention to put your names forward to be on any of the standing committees with AUPE, these are reselected every 2 years, so there is Finance Committee, Leg committee, Human rights committee, Young Activist committee, Woman committee, Environmental committee, COPA committee, OH&S committee, Membership Services committee, Members Benefits committee, Anit-Privatization committee,Pension committee,Pay and Social Equity and Area councils.
All the information on these committees are on the AUPE website.
And please if you have any question please feel free to contact us!

Convention update

Hi folks:
Well we are just wrapping up another day at convention.  Ending with the Bear pit where all candidates have an opportunity to speak about their platform of why they are running for positions with AUPE Executive.  So we have the opportunity to elect a new President 2 candidates running, a new Secretary/Treasurer 2 candidates running.  And with a new resolution that was passed 6 part time Vice President Positions, which there are more than 6 candidates.
So we are looking forward to tomorrow to be a part of change again with in AUPE and being apart of history.  I will keep you posted!
In solidarity
